Politics – Tony Blair returns, heaven save us!•Its just life!

Politics and in particular National politics still hold a fascination for Tony Blair, he left UK politics just before his reputation was completely trashed, just got out in time so to speak but now he is slowly edging back to try to rebuild his legacy!

Heaven help the UK if Tony Blair makes any sort of successful return to UK politics, along with Gordon Brown he led, probably, the worst government this country has had for over 100 years, doing damage that will take generations to fix!

Elected to power in 1997 on a lie that the Conservative Government was sleazy and nasty, the economy was in a mess, public finances were out of control, high unemployment etc. which was almost entirely a lie on the premise in politics is that if you say something often enough the public will believe you and the bigger the lie the more they believe you! The truth in fact was that the economy, though just out of recession, was recognised by the IMF as the GOLDEN economy of Europe with strong growth and falling unemployment, we actually had a pensions system largely based on the final salary system which was well into surplus and envied around the world and the so-called sleaze was mainly to do with affairs outside of marriage and a largely unproven cash for questions scandal, nothing compared with what the government of New Labour would get up to!

Before the election Tony Blair famously boasted he could outline his policies in 3 words Education, Education and Education and then proceeded to preside over the biggest drop in education standards in history.

The Blair government brought a whole new meaning and class of despair to UK politics and kept up the good work by doubling the cost of government with devolution, taking governance of the banks away from the Bank of England and putting it with a new authority which failed completely and was the underlying cause of the banking crisis, raided the pension funds year on year in a way that made Robert Maxwell look like an angel, made us the highest taxed nation in the world through hidden indirect taxation, created the surveillance society installing camera networks not seen anywhere else in the world, took us further into the EU giving away half our rebate, enshrined the Human Rights act into UK law, fostered and encouraged the do-gooder politically correct society, created a tax system no-one understands, probably took us to at least one illegal war, wasted
