Politics of Coalition and so the NHS Reform Bill hangs in the Balance!

The politics of coalition, Nick Clegg and the left-wing Liberal elite will do this country untold harm unless we are very careful and the NHS Reform Bill is a case in point.

Politics, you either get the principled signpost politician who has a set of values and although modified by time the values point in basically the same direction and then you get the flagpole politician who flows with the wind and who’s main aim is power, nothing wrong with power you can’t do anything without it, it is power at any cost which is wrong.

Politics and Power at any cost, usually in spite of the people, is the basis of a flagpole politician and it is the perfect description of the Lib Dem’s, the Lib Dem’s parade themselves as being the party of the people, listening to their views and representing those views, within a Lib Dem context, in Parliament but of course they don’t!

The Lib Dem’s are a far Left-Wing Liberal Elitist party whose views are directly opposed to the views of the electorate and the views they portray to the public will usually differ dependant on which part of the country they are in, a party of mainly madcap schemes with no other real aim but the pursuit power, at any cost in spite of the people.

When the Conservative Party formed the coalition with the Lib Dem’s, see the Further reading section, the Lib Dem’s were by far the smallest party with only a 6th of the seats and a disastrous general election behind them but within the coalition agreement they had 65% of their manifesto implemented and Ministers/representatives in every department with Nick Clegg being made Deputy Prime Minister, a pretty successful negotiation which gave them power way beyond their political mandate, true power in politics without the support of the people but then that is coalition politics.

After completely out negotiating their Conservative partners in spectacular fashion the Lib Dem’s, being the smallest party by a mile, were supposed to be part of and supportive of the coalition program, they in fact all fully signed off the NHS reform bill along with others, they were obliged to honour cabinet collective responsibility because without that collective responsibility democracy can’t function but then that is where the Lib Dem’s true colours come out, their main aim is power and more power, at any cost and they will only support policies through the thick, never the thin!

Now we come to the NHS reforms which are a case in point, the NHS is a national gem which must be treasured but it is riddled with protected fiefdoms and is incredibly wasteful and inefficient, when the NHS was first formed 9 out of 10 doctors opposed it, when they could not stop it they went about making it their own and building up their power bases, it is these little empires within the NHS, the power-hungry unions and the visionless screeching of the far left that was always going to put up a fight against reform, in fact the doctors have opposed every reform ever put forward for the NHS!

The very strength of this opposition is a good indication that these reforms are badly needed, that is if our NHS is to survive but can the Conservative Party count on the support of their coalition colleagues, quite simply NO, they have run a mile even though they scrutinised it and it was signed off and voted for by nearly all their MP’s, they are opposing it, even after David Cameron had caved in to their demands to change parts of the bill they are still opposing it, so where is this cabinet responsibility, without which government simply cannot function?

This is where David Cameron has to find the guts to put his coalition colleagues in their rightful place as junior coalition partners, re-establish cabinet responsibility and make sure Nick Clegg and his band of followers understand that this is a Conservative led administration, they have been given their first taste of power in the modern era but with it goes responsibility. The Lib Dem’s are not acting as fully committed members of the coalition but as an opposition party campaigning against the government but with a foothold in every ministry of government, that is unsustainable.

If Nick Clegg does not want to play ball, for instance it should be that every statement by a Lib Dem government member is signed off by David Cameron’s office not the other way around, then let him force a general election, he deserves the judgement of the people, which will be to kick him and his colleagues out.

I really do hope that this period of coalition government will warn the British people off it for good, in one way David Cameron comes out of this well because the right thing for his party after the last general election would have been to let the Lib Dem’s join up with the Labour Party, what Cameron did in creating the coalition with the Lib Dem’s was to put the country before party, something the Lib Dem’s would never do, they joined the coalition for power and to follow a ruthless left-wing agenda.
