The politics of the Leveson enquiry rumbles on, a few good snippets but even minor revelations a magnified by the media because scandal sells newspapers and media time, so David Cameron signed off his emails to Rebekah Brooks with LOL, so what, whether it be ‘Lots of Love’ or ‘Laugh out Loud’, many people sign off emails and letters off like that everyday to close friends and family members!
David Cameron has known Rebekah Brook’s husband since school and has been friends of Rebekah Brooks since before he could ever dream of being Prime Minister or probably even seriously involved in politics and it would take an imaginative journalist to make anything remotely serious out of the emails! You don’t tether your ties to long-term friends just because you enter politics become Prime Minister, in fact you need those friends for support and to help you to relax, David and Rebekah are not new acquaintances, they are long-term friends so I think the media mayhem over LOL is ridiculous, who on earth would ever enter politics and want the Prime Ministers job when even their most private of moments become public property?
I think the hype surrounding the other Ministers involved, but one, is what I have said, just hype and nonsense but, and here is where the press and opposition will have a field day, the Jeremy Hunt situation is entirely different and is another own goal by the Prime Minister.
David Cameron says his Ministers must up their game but the one who must up their game is David Cameron who has shown time and again to have very poor judgement of people and absolutely no reliable political aerial to be able to judge events!
When Jeremy Hunt, even if we assume he is completely innocent, was appointed the press/media was full of comments surrounding Jeremy Hunts out spoken support for the Newscorp BskyB bid and given the ongoing hacking scandal with Newscorp it was obvious this was a very dangerous appointment but Cameron seemed oblivious, control of the bid had to be removed from Vince Cable because he has compromised himself with his own press utterances about the bid but David Cameron undermined the whole government because whatever action Jeremy Hunt took he would never have been allowed to wave the bid through without major damage being inflicted by Labour.
This is just another worrying own goal and Cameron really has to up his game, as for Jeremy Hunt even if he is completely innocent I think he probably has to leave and start again in a years time, at the very least change departments, if he is innocent then maybe a promotion but where he is now is too sensitive given the background to this!
