So there we have it, in politics the most leaked budget in history, George Osborne has delivered his budget for growth or as much of it as was allowed by circumstance and the Lib Dem’s but thankfully it was not a Lib Dem budget!
I think George Osborne did quite well within the politics of the current climate, you could see a real Conservative trying to get out but being restrained by the need to secure our AAA rating and the Lib Dem’s but he made a valiant and worthwhile effort at what the country really needs.
Labour and the Lib Dem’s will talk about the gap between rich and poor getting wider but that is irrevelent, we actually need the rich to get richer to help this country grow
Would have loved to see Osborne go further but understand his constraints, not least the Lib Dem’s, so to look at the main points and where it would have been nice to go. Further reading
50p TAX RATE DOWN TO 45p This of course has produced howls from the left, just as it did when Nigel Lawson introduced the 40p tax rate but when the rate was dropped the tax take actually doubled, this is a sensible and prudent move, just a pity it wasn’t George Osborne, Budget Time again!straight down to 40p. Labour and the Lib Dem’s will talk about the gap between rich and poor getting wider but that is irrevelent, we actually need the rich to get richer to help this country grow, it is not the gap between rich and poor which is relevant but how much better off the relative poor are!
