Politics, Bankers and the Naive Greedy World of Power!

So is politics just about power, are politicians, bankers etc just greedy and naive about any world other than their own!

POLITICS
David Cameron

Forgetting about party loyalties, the main problem with politics and politicians today is that so few of them have experienced real life, they leave school and go to university followed by a short venture into the outside world and then research within a political party. This is then followed by a parliamentary seat and then, in some cases, leadership of the party, Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and David Cameron, now Cameron is a very able politician and could turn out to be a great leader but he must get real down to earth politicians such as David Davis around him to keep them in touch with reality, this is where Cameron is slipping up because reality can be inconvenient but politics is about real people, he has time though because Miliband and Clegg will never grasp the concept!

It is the same with the expenses scandal, now to attract really talented people into politics we are going to have to pay them much more than we do and we can’t do as we have done in the past and make the difference up with expenses because as talented as most of the MP’s are they are also naive and a little bit of them can’t understand the difference between expenses and salary.

Personally I would like to see 100 fewer MP’s but the correct salary for the job, more MP’s in parliament who have struggled and succeeded in the real world, the end of any positive discrimination because it will harm parliament and democracy coupled with a rigid expenses structure enshrined in law. For instance no MP should be allowed to claim for a 2nd home but if their constituency is outside commuting distance to London they should get a fixed allowance, everyone who qualifies should get the same etc.

BANKERS

Sir Fred Goodwin

This is going to be very short but I have absolutely no respect for bankers (Fred Goodwin should be in jail), solicitors/barristers, credit card companies, insurance executives and journalists, now this is probably a broad statement and I am probably only speaking about the high-profile people but really bankers are just crooks in suits totally divorced from real life and people, it amazes me that bankers can make or break a business yet they have no idea or ability to judge a business!

SOLICITORS and BARRISTERS

No real-time for this profession, they are essential and I use them but they will sting you for every penny, they dwell in their own universe and in a lot of cases are just the equivalent of ambulance chasers!

INSURANCE EXECUTIVES

Just like bankers, crooks in suits who will wriggle every way possible to avoid paying out whilst continually pushing up the premiums.

JOURNALISTS

By this I am mainly talking about newspaper journalists who will dig the gutter for scandal and twist the truth to make a scandal, I don’t know how they can look in the mirror.

CREDIT CARD COMPANIES

Despite the Bank of England base rate being historically low the interest on credit cards is at an historically high level and you know that statement on the bottom of their statements which says something like ‘ if you are having trouble paying your credit card contact us, we are here to help you’ well that is rubbish. I have recently been helping a friend who overstretched herself, she came to me after she had written in full detail to her 4 card companies, even detailing when each card would be fully repaid, do you know how many acknowledged and replied with any help, you got it, none of them, they just kept on piling on the interest! Just as bad if not worse than bankers, definitely crooks in suits.

Well then, I feel better now I have had my daily rant, life isn’t so bad after all!
