One thing that is pretty certain is that if AV becomes a part of our politics it won’t always help Labour or always help the Tories under all circumstances but it will probably always help the Lib Dem’s.

One thing that is pretty certain is that if AV becomes a part of our politics it won’t always help Labour or always help the Tories under all circumstances but it will probably always help the Lib Dem’s.
A quote from Mori the poll people just confirms what I have been saying for a long time, the reason the Lib Dem’s are in favour of proportional representation, and in the current vote for the Alternative Vote system, is because it more or less guarantees a hung Parliament and permanent coalition government!
What this means is that the parties which will be in and out of government will be the Conservative Party and the Labour Party, the Lib Dem’s who should have enough of a foundation to remain the 3rd party will be the main king makers and permanently in government, with no real moral compass or principles they will just move between the Conservative and Labour Parties whichever is the largest.
The Lib Dem’s support for the Alternative Vote system and Proportional Representation has nothing to do with fair votes, all votes having equal weight etc. it is just the Lib Dem’s putting 2 fingers up to democracy!
The reason the Ed Milliband is supporting AV is simply because the Lib Dem’s are naturally to the left of the Labour Party so are more likely to support the Labour Party wherever possible but, in the disastrous event that the YES to AV camp wins, will the Lib Dem’s actually be a force at all?
If we had the Alternative Vote system at the next general election the second preference votes would play a major role in the result so lets look where those votes would go, in the main:
- The Conservative Party 2nd preference votes would invariably go to UKIP, because of Europe.
- The Labour Party 2nd preference votes would, again in the main, go to UKIP, because of Europe.
- The Lib Dem’s 2nd preference votes would probably go 80% to the Labour Party.
- The UKIP 2nd preference votes would go 60% to the Conservative Party.
UKIP could easily replace the Lib Dem’s as the 3rd party and King Makers but if the Lib Dem’s force the Alternative Vote system on to us with the resulting reduction in our democracy, they will have got their just deserts.
Remember, for the sake of DEMOCRACY in this country, VOTE NO TO the ALTERNATIVE VOTING SYSTEM (AV)!
