When running a group of branches I used to involve the staff, firstly in developing the budget/forecast, then when the finalised budget was approved each member of staff was given a particular responsibility for an appropriate part of that budget.
Each month when the accounts came out we would hold a branch meeting to analyse the results against budget and plan forward accordingly, we were grooming the future branch managers, it is still not widely understood that Business Leadership Coaching and Personal Development are fundamentally two of the most important tasks a manager has, it also creates respect and loyalty within the team.
