European Union – the Europhiles Fight back, why believe them now!

European Union, we will get our vote - maybe!
European Union - Nick Clegg Speaks, is anyone listening?

European Union debate, it had to happen, the minority Europhiles were never going to stay quiet whilst the Eurosceptics made all the running, after all Heath, Heseltine, Clark, Patten and co almost destroyed the Conservative Party in trying to force the European Union onto an ill-informed public.

European Union Europhiles come out in force joined by Barack Obama, Philip Gordon and of course the devoted Europhile Lib Dem’s but will the public be taken in yet again because this time it is for real!

President Barack Obama says we must stay at the heart of the European Union and if we were to leave we would lose influence around the world and in Washington, Philip Gordon says a referendum on the UK membership of the European Union would not be helpful and sometimes make countries look inwards on themselves.

Tony Blair says it would be economic disaster for the UK to leave the European Union but then if we do leave Blair can’t claim his dream job, Ed Miliband has refused a referendum because it could cause us to sleep walk to the exit, if we get a referendum it will hopefully be a headlong rush!

But Obama is not interested in the UK, just the way that Britain can represent US views within the European Union, Blair is not interested in the UK, just Tony Blair and the rest of the Europhiles are just chasing a European Utopia which will not work and is anti-democratic, they hope that they can hang on long enough so that no one remembers life outside the European Union!

David Cameron stands a very real chance of splitting the Conservative Party and possibly destroying it for generations to come which is more than Heseltine and his cronies achieved!

And where does this leave David Cameron, where does he really stand, he is actually playing a bit fast and loose, he does just enough to appear tough on the European Union but at the moment he seems to have the Euro politics in his DNA.

So let us look at the Cameron proposal to repatriate powers from Brussels, does he really believe that Britain can pick the bits it likes from the European Union menu whilst still maintaining its position and influence at the top table of the European Union, we are only 1 of 27 and everyone must agree, this is set up to be a gigantic fudge around events, smoke and mirrors to win a referendum. David Cameron is not a good negotiator and he can’t honestly believe the European Union will just roll over like that, it would destabilise the whole edifice and is totally against the forward movement of the European Union towards full fiscal and political union.

Who knows which way Cameron will jump he just can’t comprehend the public feeling on this matter, the Ed Miliband refusal to have a referendum is actually an insult to the intelegence of the British public

And we don’t, as Cameron depicts life outside the European Union, have to be like a Norway where although not in the European Union they apparently have to abide by the rules to qualify for a trade agreement, now that really sounds like a fudge! We are not Norway or Switzerland, we are the 6th largest economy in the world and all we need from the European Union is a trade agreement exactly the same as the one we will set up with other countries, if we agree a trade agreement with America we don’t have to implement American laws in the UK, that is just silly but it is what Cameron says will happen if we leave the European Union, he is just trying to block all exits!

Will it be disastrous for our economy if we leave the European Union (EU), why should it be, we have clocked up a nearly £500b trade deficit with the EU over a 7 year period, that is we bought £500b more goods from the EU than they bought from us so they simply can’t afford to lose us as a trading partner, we are their biggest customers and as for the USA, well although the USA is the worlds biggest investor in the UK, so is the UK the worlds biggest investor in America. We will survive very well thank you and we will be able to do something we can’t do now, negotiate our own trade agreement which is forbidden under EU rules, all our trade agreement are currently negotiated by the EU, we can once again become a true global trading nation!

What about influence, will we lose influence in Washington, maybe but the influence we have now is only because Washington think we do their bidding and we certainly did under Tony Blair, our influence will still be there but it will be different, how about the rest of the world well that influence will probably increase as we reassert ourselves as a true global trading nation.

What will happen though, if we stay in, is that we will be sucked further into the core of the European Union, into full fiscal and political union, you see there really is only 2 choices, fully in or fully out, the Cameron 3rd way does not exist and that is why the Europhiles are so jumpy, they think once that fact is realized the subsequent referendum will be a big, leave the EU, result.

If we stay in the EU we will definitely lose influence and slowly drift into being a region of the European Union, as America becomes more comfortable with the EU our presence will be of a lesser importance and the world influence will be an EU influence, we will just be 1 of 27 regions and the same applies to the rest of the world, as the UK loses its identity we will become just one of 27+ so whatever happens if we come out of the EU, if we stay in we are 100% certain to lose most of our real influence worldwide.

Whether we stay in or leave the European Union it is of fundamental importance to the future of our country, your country and it will be your vote that counts, if you vote to stay in the European Union it may be the last ever vote to really count.

Who knows which way Cameron will jump he just can’t comprehend the public feeling on this matter, the Ed Miliband refusal to have a referendum is actually an insult to the intelligence of the British public and although politicians are always having to take decisions which are unpopular in certain areas this is far more important than that because if the Conservative Party lose the next election it will hand the country back into the hands of the Labour Party and into the heart of Europe.

To concentrate Cameron’s mind, my dilemma is similar to millions of Conservative voters, I am a life long Conservative, stood for election, organised elections, got accepted for the Conservative parliamentary candidates list and had parliamentary ambitions so you would expect my vote to go to the Conservative Party but although the majority of the Conservative MP’s are treading a Conservative path I am not sure David Cameron will deliver a party I can vote for, in fact he stands a very real chance of splitting the Conservative Party and possibly destroying it for generations to come which is more than Heseltine and his cronies achieved!

Unless Cameron becomes a true Conservative Prime Minister and delivers on the vast majority of voter expectations, by the majority I include Labour voters, he could put every single marginal seat in danger and these are seats he must win, if Cameron does deliver though, he still has time, then that is exactly what Balls and Miliband are worried about, their very own nightmare!

Whether we stay in or leave the European Union it is of fundamental importance to the future of our country, your country and it will be your vote that counts, if you vote to stay in the European Union it may be the last ever vote to really count because once sucked into the full European Union your vote will have a zero influence, have your say, comment below, this debate is so important!

STOP PRESS

Apparently David Cameron will allow cabinet ministers to campaign for the UK to leave the European Union if that is what they believe, maybe Cameron is coming to his senses, of course we will never know who the real David Cameron is until the Lib Dem’s are off the scene!
