European Union – IN or OUT – the EU only benefits the Politicians!

The European Union, at last we have the referendum vote but why oh why has David Cameron picked a fight with his back benchers, WRONG FIGHT, WRONG SUBJECT!

Today we have the vote on the European Union referendum, 3 questions are proposed for the referendum

  1. Stay as we are
  2. Renegotiate our position in the European Union
  3. Pull out of the European Union

It is the wrong fight because the result is not binding and the vote today is also only about holding a referendum not answering the questions, all David Cameron had to do was let his MP’s have a free vote and whether the vote was won or lost just say that the views and strength of feeling had been noted but that we needed to sort out the current crisis first.

This is just a further example of David Cameron’s lack of political nouse and feel for the mood of the country, it is also a fact for everyone to see that the real beneficiaries from the European Union are the politicians themselves which is why they want to stay at all costs!

The subject of the European Union just will not go away and whilst it is obvious for the world to see that our current priority must be to sort out the financial mess caused by the self-centred ambition of the European Union ruling political classes, the fact remains that the European Union is not a place that represents the UK’s best interests.

But why are some of our politicians so wedded to the European Union, firstly it is a massive ego massaging venue which allows them to play on the world stage but the UK already does that all on its own, second is the form of politics which allows politicians to govern, not for the people but in spite of the people and there is precious little accountability because governments are elected on a proportional representation (PR) system which guarantees power and makes elections just a case of musical chairs and thirdly the European Union is very financially rewarding for the politicians with, apart from the salaries of the MEP’s, millions of pound being claimed in expenses.

European Union has an unusual take on democracy, they are very willing to let you vote for or against their policies and if you vote in the wrong way they will just keep you voting, again and again until you vote the right way.

The European Union is probably the most corrupt organisation in the worlds leading democracies and their unbelievable gamble on the Euro, which was doomed from the start, has put the whole worlds economies in danger and remember this was done without a popular mandate. But then the European Union has an unusual take on democracy, they are very willing to let you vote for or against their policies and if you vote in the wrong way they will just keep you voting, again and again until you vote the right way.

Whatever the differing views are, whether you are a believer in the European Project or not and I believe in withdrawal as soon as possible, forget about the wording of the proposed referendum, non of this is important or to the point, at stake here is democracy!

For the party leaders to all impose a 3-line WIP is an affront to democracy which will weaken their authority, it will also highlight the truly independent MP’s!

The government made a sound move towards a fairer democracy when they set it up that 100,000 votes would trigger a debate in parliament on the relevant subject, though not binding on government policy, and when you set something like that in motion the MP’s must be allowed a free vote to be able to truly represent their electorates views.
